To vegan or not to vegan....that is the question

Lately, I have inherited a random obsession with food documentaries and I really need to stop watching them!!  Every time I watch one of these things I begin to question what is left on this earth to eat that isn't slowly killing us.  Most recently I watched Forks over Knives and it was really eye opening.  Basically, it breaks down many facts and statistics about how eating animal based foods are causing Americans to become fat and sick.  The documentary details how meat is the cause to several deadly diseases with CANCER topping the list and if we revert to a vegan type diet we could cure many health problems.
Just me :)
I really have to stop watching this stuff because now I really don't know what is safe to eat anymore.  The thought of a vegan diet seems impossible but based on the statistics it seems like the most effective way to naturally fight off diseases and stay healthy.  I am strongly considering a vegan diet but I just don't know if I can do it.  I could likely give up red meat but we eat a lot of chicken and fish.  Not to mention, pizza is my favorite food and I wouldn't be able to eat it because of the dairy.  For now, I am going to start by buying only organic chicken and fish since we eat mostly organic food anyway- baby steps :)
