Our Engagement Story

Truth moment:  Being married ROCKS!

Seriously, I am really enjoying being a newlywed.  I truly just "feel" different.  I can't explain it.  One things for sure, I am loving it and my new hubby :)

As I eluded to in my last post, I want to share all the glorious details of our special day (and the moments leading up to it) with my readers.  I thought a great way to kick off my wedding recap series would be to share our engagement story and a few pictures with you!

The story (this is the story we published to our wedding website)

According to her............ all starts with fitness.  I was a member at LifeTime Fitness where DeAndre was a personal trainer.  For months I would notice him checking me out while training his clients as I worked out.  Months went by and he would watch but never approach me.  Halloween weekend 2010 one of my girlfriends was in town visiting and I decided we should get dressed up and attend a halloween party at Harry's.  I dressed up as Pocahontas- it really was a cute costume!  Moments after walking into the party I notice a familiar face standing in the center of the room.  Our eyes met and let him tell you I was staring him down lol but anyone who knows me knows that wasn't true.  In fact my girlfriend can attest to that!  Within a few minutes the mysterious personal trainer from the gym walked up to me and asked if he could buy me a drink.  I remember saying to him after we found out each others names, "It's good to finally know your name DeAndre."  He responded to me "I told myself if I ever saw you outside of the gym I would know I was meant to talk to you- I was never going to approach you at the gym."  That response told me two things...1. he was a professional and 2. a gentleman, both qualities of a real man.  It was that moment that I "officially" met my future best friend and soulmate.  You couldn't pay me a million dollars that night for me to believe 2 years later he would ask me to become his wife.  I would call our relationship pure destiny and believe deep in my heart GOD placed us in each others paths because he sent us both the answer to our prayers.  THANK YOU JESUS for sending me my husband :)

According to him...........

I was working at LifeTime Fitness and one day we crossed paths....I was on my way out from work and she was on her way in to workout.  Being polite, I asked her how she was doing.  She responded by saying "good".  From there it started the first connection.  As a Personal Trainer, I always saw her at the gym but I was always unavailable to speak to her or to show any real interest in her, so I told myself if we were ever to meet outside of the gym then that will be my time to approach her.  Ironically, on a Halloween weekend going out with my family and friends, we ran into each other and I felt a sudden connection from the first eye contact.  I was joking about her staring me down because it seemed like until I approached her we were constantly making eye contact- from me seeing her looking, from her seeing me looking, so I finally approached her.  From there everything seemed natural.  I asked for her number, called her another day and it continued to feel like everything was meant to be.  For the first time I was committed to a serious relationship knowing from the start that this was the person I prayed for.  Now 2 years and counting we are continuing to grow as a couple and learn more about each other.  I can't wait to finally say the words "I DO" and start our lives together as husband and wife.

Below are some of my favorites from our engagement session shot by Beau Vaughn Photography.  Justin did an amazing job and I can't wait to share the emotion he captured of our big day :)

The pictures were shot at the Dallas Arboretum and Klyde Warren Park.

I look forward to recapping more wedding moments with you soon!

Until next time,
