Design inspiration- Part 1, The Master Bedroom

In anticipation of moving into our future home, I wanted to post a room by room series that details all the color schemes/ideas I am using for inspiration to help with decorating our space in a few months.  I am so excited to get out of our apartment and into our very first house together- super freaking stoked!  But you know how it is when buying a home right?  It is not over until the fat lady sings and we have a set of keys in our hands!  So what is a girl to do in the meantime??  She gets prepared by stalking Pinterest, Houzz, furniture sites, Crate and Barrel, etc. -  I know, I'm pitiful. #don'tjudgeme

Here is a breakdown of my top master bedroom room ideas.  I like different elements of all the photos you will see below but you should notice some common trends.

About My Master Bedroom Vision

My inspiration for our master is something cozy, warm, and romantic.  All of our hardwood, carpet, and walls are variations of brown, tan, and beige so I am looking for neutral color palettes that add a splash of color.  I also really like the look of mixing a cool color like gray in with the warm, neutral colors of browns/tans.  And I LOVE white bedding- although it is completely impractical and we probably will not have an all white bed!

A few absolute musts in our new master bedroom:
  • A large king-sized bed with a fun headboard
  • Matching statement nightstands
  • Matching statement lamps
  • Lots of pillows and throw blankets that add that little extra oomph!
  • Statement drapery
  • A fun, textured bench at the end of the bed
  • Floor length mirror
  • An area rug that adds a little drama
  • A built in shelving wall
  • A sitting area by the window
  • A striped accept wall- I'm thinking beige and gray but that could change. Gray will definitely be incorporated!
  • Wall art and family photos
  • Fresh flowers for that feminine, romantic touch
  • And of course, lots of candles!
All photos courtesy of Houzz.com- absolutely hooked on this site
