Random Thoughts Tuesday-Heavy Heart

With so much tragedy happening this week, I felt it necessary to express my thoughts on the recent events surrounding the deaths of a young man from St. Louis-Michael Brown and actor Robin Williams.

For the past 48 hours, my social media news feeds have been bombarded with the news surrounding these two gentleman.  First off, my deepest condolences go out to their families and loved ones.  I cannot imagine the heartbreak they feel during this time.  Robin Williams was a class act Actor and his death brings awareness that clinical depression is real and affects even the most put together of individuals and a global issue we need to seek God to solve.

I am deeply troubled by the negativity surrounding the death of Michael Brown.  St. Louis is my hometown so I take the recent looting and other derogatory events that took place this week very personally.  It makes me sad more than anything to see people take a horrible situation and make it about race.  A young man who is unarmed being shot to death by a police officer (regardless of the race of either party) is UNACCEPTABLE and I believe justice should be served.  I am however so disappointed in the African American community in St. Louis and their reactions/behavior that I am honestly at a lost for words.  Those involved in the stealing and ransacking of local businesses should be ashamed and I truly hope they are punished for their immature actions.  All you did was make yourself and the African American community look really bad- you solved nothing.  You have made a horrible situation so much worse by bringing all this negative attention to a young man who should be allowed to rest in peace and stress to his family who just want to see justice served.  All I can do is pray for those who thought it was appropriate to retaliate in this negative manner, the family of the young man who lost his life, and for the city of St. Louis.  Heavenly father, I pray that you cover the city of St. Louis and give them peace to end the negativity.  The world needs you Lord to help execute change so that people no longer point fingers in times of sorrow but rather come together to fight through.  I pray for no more killing, no more violence, no more depression, and no more hate.  In Jesus name, Amen.

That's all.

RIP Robin Williams and Michael Brown.
