Diary of the NON-Rich

The average American household earns about $51,371 per year according to the The Department of Numbers.  Can you believe that?  As a middle class American household, my husband and I are certainly blessed to not have to worry about the basics.  We earn more than enough income to lead a comfortable life.  Yet, I still find a way to complain about what I don't have.

Sound familiar?
Don't lie.  I know I am not the only one.

Let's get real here.

The non-rich is the majority of this country.  You read the stats.  The average American household earns $51,371 per year.  So why do we still fantasize about living the fabulous life?  One filled with shopping sprees and 2 weeks long vacations?  One where I can have all the materials my heart could ever desire?

My response is simple.  The media.  Watching television stimulates our mind to always want what we do not have.  I do not see anything wrong with desiring to have nice things and striving for financial freedom.  Who wouldn't want to never have to worry about money every again?  I can't think of many.  However, if you have wealth and you do not give back to help make this country a better place to live for all, I find something wrong with that.  The average American household is a measly $51,371 so if you have the means why not find a way to help instead purchasing one more Birkin bag?

The reality is that people who can live a lavish life like this make up such a small percentage of our country that it is almost unrealistic to portray an image that indicates otherwise.  It makes people ungrateful for the wonderful life and situation The Lord blessed them with because it is never going to be enough as long as we have the media portraying an image that this country is filled with people who have the means to spend frivolously.  And honestly, with more money comes more problems it seems for most folks.

I don't know.  Just some of my thoughts.
